Presentation Overview:

The Breevort Park South Flood Control Project represents the City of Saskatoon's fourth major flood control initiative.  The catchment area surrounding Brevoort Park is highly prone to flooding during 1-in-10 year rainfall events, because the neighborhood was developed before 1989 and therefor lacks contemporary stormwater management standards.  To address this risk, an 8,600m³ underground StormTrap system spanning across 40m x 144m was adopted, the system incorporating 20 types of modules.  The project's central City location presented significant environmental and property related challenges, and the absence of on site yard space required extensive coordination for precast modules delivery and installation.  

During the design phases, comprehensive evaluations including structural loading assessments and buoyancy analyses were conducted.  Construction necessitated the excavation and temporary closure of South Park from February 2024 to October 2025.  Upon completion of the underground tank installation, the park will be fully restored, while North Brevoort Park remained open to the public throughout the project.

Presenter Bio:

Lovedeep Singh Ramana, M.Sc., EIT - Western Canada Stormwater Specialist - Amrize Canada Inc.

Lovedeep Ramana is currently employed with Amrize Canada Inc., based out of the Calgary office.  He holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from India and an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a majors in Structural Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 2017.  Lovedeep began his engineering career in Canada in 2020 with Lafarge (now Amrize) Precast in Winnipeg, as a Precast and Hollowcore Quality Control Supervisor.  During this time, he contributed to several major infrastructure, commercial and residential projects in Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.  In the summer of 2023, Lovedeep transitioned into the role of Western Canada Stormwater Specialist, where he is involved in Stormwater projects across NW ON, MB, SK and AB including hte Brevoort Park Project.
